2009 dallas cowboys team reportThe Dallas Cowboys failed to reach the playoffs in 2008, as they were defeated in the final game of the season by rival Philadelphia Eagles. In the 2009 NFL Season, owner Jerry Jones, and head coach Wade Phillips, will try again at making the playoffs, with intentions on reaching the Super Bowl in Miami. The Cowboys made some significant moves during the off season this year. The first of course was the out right release of wide receiver Terrell Owens, the Cowboys also released long time free safety Roy Williams, corner back Adam Jones, and nose tackle Tank Johnson. The Cowboys will now rely heavily on the running attack of Marion Barber and second year backup Felix Jones, both of these players experienced injuries last season, and if they stay healthy they will provide most of the offense in 2009. Quarterback Tony Romo's job requirement will now change from making the big plays down the field, to complete short passes on third down. The Cowboys defense played well last year and they added veteran middle linebacker Kieth Brooking to the team. DeMarcus Ware accumulated 20 sacks last year, and he will likely have a similar season in 2009.
