Browns Enter their First Preseason Game as +3 Underdogs in Green Bay

NFL News - August 15th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

The Cleveland Browns travel to Green Bay for their first preseason game of the 2009 NFL football season. The Cleveland Browns won 10 football games in 2007, but managed to only win 4 football games in 2008. The Browns have experienced quarterback issues since drafting Brady Quinn a few years ago, and nothing has changed this year. The Browns and new head coach Eric Manginy  are still undecided if Derrick Anderson, or Brady Quinn will be the starting quarterback at the start of the 2009 regular season. Either quarterback will have a tough time in this game against the Packers, as wide receiver Donte' Stallworth is suspended for the entire 2009 season, and wide receiver Braylon Edwards is probable with a minor injury.

The Packers enter their first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns as a -3 point favorite to win the game. The Packers did not have the best season last year only winning 6 games after accumulating 13 wins in 2007. Aaron Rogers played very well last season despite only winning 6 games, Aaron played all 16 games and passed for 4,038 yards and 28 touchdowns. Rogers will not play to long in this game, in fact expect him to throw the ball only 5 or 10 times in the entire game. Running back Ryan Grant will start off his third season of NFL football against the soft Browns defense. Grant only found the end zone 4 times in 2008, and Packer fans hope he can improve on that part of his game.

As you can see from the sportsbook BetUS, the Cleveland Browns are a +3 underdog in this match against the Green Bay Packers, but preseason games are decided by the reserve players. The Packers likely have the better group of reserves on their team, but the Browns will have the advantage of two starting quarterbacks playing the entire first half. The Browns fans will also get a chance to see their future wide receivers play on the field Saturday night, 36 overall pick Brian Robiskie from Ohio State, and Mohamed Massaquoi for the university of Georgia. These two athletes were selected back to back in this years NFL draft, and the Browns execs hope they can become the future for the Franchise, sooner rather than later. This game is filled with tons a young football products and it should be an entertaining game to watch for all NFL fans. This game will take place Saturday night at 8:00 pm.
