Chances Of The Giants Winning The 2010 Super Bowl

NFL News - August 2nd, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

The New York football Giants lost wide receiver Plaxico Burress last year, with just 4 games left in the regular season, and felt the effects of not having a talented receiver for Eli Manning to throw to. Burress won't be back this season and the Giants must fine away to stay competitive in the passing game if they want to win another Super Bowl. Just two years ago in the 2007 Super Bowl, Burress caught the game winning touchdown pass from the arm of Eli Manning. The Giants have tried to repeat the success they had in 2007 with no avail.

The Giants come into the 2009-2010 season with great odds to win the Super Bowl this year at 10:1. Bodog and BetED have already released Super Bowl odds and the New York Giants are in the elite class. The Giants rely on defense to win the Super Bowl in 2007 and will have to do the same this year if they want to repeat that success. The Giants defense ranked in the top ten in almost every defensive category at the end of the 2008 football season. Ranking 5th in points allowed, 5th in yards allowed, and 8th in passing yards allowed. that was with out leading defensive end Osi Umenyiora in the line up all year. Osi is back and the defense should be even better this year.

The Giants are the most favored team to win the Super bowl in the NFC East division, and the Eagles are right behind them with 12:1 odds to win the Super Bowl. The Giants are not a bad team to wager on they have won their division both of the last two years, and the NFC east is often credited as the best division in all of football. The Giants also have, one of the best running games in all of the NFL. Brandon Jacobs leads the pack for the Giants running attack and he and the Giants offensive line managed to average 157.4 yards per game on the ground. That was number 1 in the league last year in rushing yards per game and they also finished 7th in the NFL for total yards per game. With a strong running game like they had last yea,r and a healthy defense, the Giants just could win the Super Bowl in 2010.
