Matchup Of Unbeatens, Saints Favored By 3 Over New York Giants

drew breesSunday will provide a huge game in the NFC as the New York Giants travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints.  This showdown will feature two undefeated teams with explosive offenses.  The Saints were off last weekend and are coming off their win in Week 4 over the New York Jets 24-10.  The Giants routed the Oakland Raiders 44-7 last Sunday to improve their record to 5-0. 

The New Orleans Saints offense has been lighting up the scoreboard all season and ranks in the Top 10 of almost every offensive statistical category.  Quarterback Drew Brees is the proven leader on an offense that is averaging a league best 36 points per game.  He has passed for 1,031 yards and 9 touchdowns.  To accompany a great passing attack, the Saints bring the second best rushing offense in the league against the Giants. The trio of Mike Bell, Reggie Bush, and Pierre Thomas have combined for 589 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.  Wide receivers Marquis Colston and Devery Henderson have combined for 463 yards and 4 touchdowns.  However, tight end Jeremy Shockey leads the team in receptions with 18 and has 162 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

New Orleans is also benefiting from one of the best defenses in the league.  Their allowing 295 yards per game which ranks 6th and have already recorded 10 sacks.  The Saints are only allowing 16 points per game, but will be tested against a great offense that the Giants possess.  Darren Sharper leads the team with 5 interceptions on the year.  The Saints have 10 picks as a team. 

eli manningThe New York Giants also are producing on offense and are putting up 417 yards per game with an average of 30 points.  Quarterback Eli Manning had no ill effects from Sunday's game where he played with an injured heel and expects to practice everyday this week.  He has thrown for 1,212 yards and 10 touchdowns.  The Giants boast the 4th best rushing game in the league and are averaging 160 yards per game.  Their running back duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw have combined for 730 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Wide receivers Steve Smith and Mario Manningham have combined for 823 yards and 7 touchdowns. 

The defense for New York has been very solid this year and is holding their opponents to just 14 points per game and a league best 210 total yards.  They also have the number one passing defense and are only giving up 104 yards per game through the air and have 5 interceptions for the year.  The Giants have forced 9 fumbles this year and recorded 14 sacks.  They will need to continue this effort against the Saint's explosive offense.

According to the NFL Week 6 Betting Odds, Betus Sportsbook has the Saints favored by 3 over the Giants on Sunday.  The over/under is set at 47.
