New NFL Football Future/Prop Bets Are Out

NFL News - August 5th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

nfl logoThe NFL season is only one month away, and online sportsbooks, such as Bodog and DSI, have released new prop and future bets for the 2009-2010 NFL football season. Previous NFL future bets, such as the odds for all 32 NFL football teams to win the Super Bowl, or the odds for a specific team to win their conference, have been released for some time now.

Now, focus is shifting to individual player achievements. Individual Player Prop Bets allow future wagers to be placed, through sportsbooks, on bettors favorite football players. The most common individual player future bet is how many yards a quarterback will rack up, during the 2009-2010 NFL regular season. Looking at the odds, Drew Bress owns the best odds to accumulate the most yards, during the 2009-2010 NFL season, at 2:1. To some, this number may seem a bit low considering that Drew Brees threw for the most yards, in the 2008 NFL Season. After Brees, the best odds go to Tom Brady, at 9:2. Following Tom Brady, the next four best odds are Peyton Manning, at 5:1, Phillip Rivers, at 6:1, Aaron Rodgers, at 8:1, and Tony Romo, at 9:1.

Individual prop bets don't stop at the quarterback position. The most yards caught, by a wide receiver, is another common prop bet professional gamblers place, on the NFL regular season. Coming in with the best odds, for the 2009 NFL Season, is Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson, leading the pack with 3:1 odds. Andre Johnson is closely followed by New England Patriots Wide Receiver, Randy Moss, at 5:1 odds, as well as Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver, Anquan Boldin, at 7:1 odds. Calvin Johnson, of the Detroit Lions, is also a heavy favorite at 8:1, despite not having an established quarterback, to deliver the ball.

These individual prop wagers also include the running backs. Top candidates, at the running back position, to accumulate the most yards are as follows: Marion Barber, of the Dallas Cowboys, at 9:1 odds, Adrian Peterson, of the Minnesota Vikings, at 2:1 odds, Matt Forte, of the Chicago Bears, at 9:1, and LaDainian Tomlinson, of the San Diego Chargers, at 10:1 odds.

Other individual prop bets, besides accumulated yards, include offensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and MVP of the NFL.

Currently, there is only one month between now and the first NFL football game of the season. Be sure to log into any online sportsbook, taking bets on the NFL, and start wagering on all the NFL individual player prop/future bets, before it's too late.
