NFL News - July 6, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smitih

mike vickMike Vick, who will end his home confinement on July 20th hopes NFL commissioner  Roger Godell will reinstate him into the NFL.  Most of Vick's legal implications and obligations are behind him, and Vick wants to become a contributor to any NFL team that selects to embrace his services.  Vick was the number one overall pick in 2001 out of Virginia Tech, and others besides the NFL are looking to capitalize on his come back.

Michael Huyghue the commissioner of UFL, has also drawn interest in the possibility of Vick playing in his new four team league.  The UFL debuts in October of this year and hopes to sign some big ex-NFL names to at least one of their four teams.  Yahoo sports indicates that the rights of Mike Vick already belong to the Orlando franchise, if the possibility of signing Vick to a UFL contract exist in the future.  The UFL hopes and looks forward to embracing the idea, that if Mike Vick performs well for the UFL league he will only be around one year.  As many have said, any good play in the UFL will lead him right back to the NFL soon.

The idea of Mike Vick playing in the NFL this year, has many loyal team fans wondering if their home town will be the team that goes out on a limb and signs the phenom talent.  The decision of whether Mike Vick will play in the NFL in this 2009 season is still up to commissioner Roger Godell.  some have speculated that Godell will reinstate Vick with a suspension of three or four games at the start of the regular season.  This one month time would also allow any future teams one month to help Vick adopt their offensive system.  The problem in Vick's situation is not if Rodger Godell will reinstate him, the problem lies in the fact that NFL owners might not sign him to a contract at all.  If after Vick's release from home confinement on the 20th, he is not signed by an NFL team.  Look for UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue to pull the trigger, signing Vick to a contract before his opportunity passes by.
