Seattle Receiver Houshmandzadeh Expresses Feelings About Bears

NFL News - September 25th, 2009 - Written by Scott

houshmandzadehSeattle wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh seems to have harsh feelings against the Chicago Bears and has become outspoken about it..  He claims that while he was a free agent this past summer, Bear's general manager Jerry Angelo never pursued him and Houshmandzadeh plans to get revenge this weekend.  So far this season, he has not set the world on fire in the Seahawks' first two games.  He only has 10 catches for 110 yards and no touchdowns, and doesn't know if Matt Hasselbeck or Seneca Wallace will be his starting quarterback this week.

"Jerry Angelo probably didn't think I could play, so I'm going to show him Sunday," Houshmandzadeh said Wednesday on the "waddle & Silvy" show on ESPN 100. "I didn't hear from Chicago, I don't think my agent did, I know I didn't.

"I feel like I'm going to get open every play, every time," Houshmandzadeh said.  "But that's not going to be the case.  Those guys get paid well.  I feel I'm going to win regardless, but I have to be realistic.  I feel like I am going to win 95 percent of the time and they can get the other 5."

It looks as though he learned quite a bit from his former teammate in Cincinnati, Chad Ochocinco, and his ability to openly express his thoughts.  Houshmandzadeh is sounding off this week after the Jets made the headlines with their words regarding the New England Patriots before their game last week.  On Thursday, Bears linebacker Lance Briggs responded to the receiver's comments and said that Houshmandzadeh "sounds like a bitter guy."

"If he's going to show what he's going to do on Sunday, tell you what, so are we, so am I. I've been playing against T.J. since college, so I know what type of competitor he is, the guy can play."

Houshmandzadeh does say that he has no harsh feelings about not going to Chicago, but did have a response to Brigg's comments.

"Hey, you know what, though, Lance is a good player. When you watch Lance on tape, man he's a beast. He knows it. He can say what he wants to say if he plays like that."

This could be an interesting rest of the season in the NFL if we continue to get blessed with weekly trash talking and bulletin board material.  For the most part, the Bears have remained silent about Houshmandzadeh's comments, aside from Briggs' remark.  Let's see if the star wide receiver backs up what he said on Sunday.
