Cincinnati Bengals' HC Marvin Lewis Focusing On Nothing But Football

NFL News - October 3rd, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

lewisIn an attempt to keep his players focused on the task at hand, Bengals' head coach Marvin Lewis had his team practice in nameless, numberless jerseys this week.

Lewis is wanting his team to focus on playing the Cleveland Browns this week, and not live in the moment of beating the Green Bay Packers on the road, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers last week in Cincinnati.

The Bengals' head coach knows in the past the Bengals have not done well dealing with success and following up big wins. They did a good job last week, beating the Steelers after the Green Bay game, but Lewis wants them to know that there are 13 more games to be played, and to be successful they must focus on their assignments.

"It doesn't matter what your name and number is, it's football and focus on what your assignments are," Lewis said earlier in the week. "It's just where we are right now and what we have ahead of us. It's important as we go forward."

As for the game this weekend, the Bengals are clear favorites against the Browns. Even though the Bengals are traveling to Cleveland, they still hold a 6 point advantage in the odds makers eyes.

The Bengals vs. Browns betting lines can be found at DSI Sportsbook. In addition to the game lines, DSI also has the total set at an over/under of 37 1/2 points.

The Bengals enter this game with the 24th ranked offense at 299.7 yards per game and the 16th ranked defense giving up 328.7 yards per game.

On the opposite side, the Browns have the 30th ranked defense giving up 412.7 yards per game along with a putrid offense ranked 32nd that is only putting out 218 yards per game.

Numbers like those would make one think that this 1 PM game might be controlled by the Cincinnati Bengals.
