Ravens Dominate Browns

NFL News - September 27th, 2009 - Written by John

ravensBrady Quinn was finally benched by Eric Mangini and the Browns fell to a dismal 0-3 start with a 34-2 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. Quinn, who was named starter at the tail end of training camp, was 6-for-8 in the first half and was picked off by Dominic Foxworth. Although the completion percentage wasn't terrible, his completions only went for 4.3 yards per and the sputtering offense needed a spar. At that point, the Browns had only gained 78 total yards. His replacement, Derek Anderson, didn't far much better. On his first series, Anderson was picked off and the Ravens ran away early on.

Baltimore's rushing attack manhandled the Browns defense. Six different rushers picked up 142 yards and Willis McGahee increased his NFL-high touchdown total with two scores. Ray Rice also had 48 yards and a touchdown.

McGahee scored his fifth touchdown of the year on Baltimore's first drive, finishing six-play, 31 yard drive with a seven-yard plunge. After two field goals in over the next three possessions, McGahee made it 20-0 when he bounced through the Browns secondary and scored from 15-yards out.

Cleveland didn't get on the board until the first play of the fourth quarter when Billy Cundiff popped through a 29-yard field goal to make it 27-3.

Josh Cribbs also saw his sensational special team efforts go in vain. The Pro Bowler had 185 return yards on eight touches.
