Cardinals Wide Reciever Anquan Boldin Finally Makes It To Camp

Sports Betting News - July 30th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

After not attending voluntary work outs and holding out during mandatory work outs, NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin is finally at camp. His arrival came a bit later than Cardinals staff had intended. Anquan Boldin while driving down Interstate 17 from Phoenix Turned around to pick up tow other Arizona Cardinals players who were stranded on the side of the road with car troubles. Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet and linebacker Ali Highsmith caught a case of bad luck while driving to Cardinals camp themselves.

Anquan is still unhappy about his contract dispute with the Arizona franchise, as he has demanded a contract extension and pay increase the last two years. Stating he is just as important to the teams success as counter part Larry Fitzgerald, who received his contract extension two seasons ago. Boldin still has two years left on his existing contract and reportedly threatened the franchise stating he would never re-sign with the team after the way the Cardinals treated him during contract negotiations. The Cardinals are also unwilling to trade Boldin who has demanded trade talks in the past.

Boldin entered Camp not talking to any reporters or answering any questions at all. Kurt Warner the Cardinals starting quarterback had plenty to say on Boldin's behalf, ESPN reports Warner said "I think it means everything to our team, that he's such a leader," and later said "So much of what this team does and how this team goes stems from who he is and what he brings to the table, and his leadership and his toughness and all those things." and when asked about Anquan Boldins hold out over the last few weeks Warner responded saying "It's obviously huge for us to know that just like always he's going to be a pro," Kurt elaborated more with this "Even though he might not be happy with certain situations outside of playing the game, we know when he steps on that football team and he steps in that locker room we're going to get Q and we're going to get everything that entails."

Warner went on talking about how important Boldin is to the teams future success "I just think he's too important to what we've done and to this whole building process that some body's got to be talking about that and some body's got to be sharing how important he is to this whole thing. So if he's not going to do it, I'm going to stand up and do it for him because I think it needs to be said."

The Cardinals did receive good news on the first day of camp at Northern Arizona University. There NFC championship rings were awarded to all the players who helped get the Cardinals to the Super Bowl last year. One thing we know for sure and that is Boldin will be an Arizona cardinal this year whether he like it or not, Boldin is a true professional in this league and his efforts on the field will always be noticed to us football fans.
