No. 4 LSU 3 Point Unerdogs On The Road Against No. 18 Georgia

Sports Betting News - September 30th, 2009 - Written by Scott

ncaaTwo SEC powerhouses will meet on Saturday as No. 4 LSU travels to Athens to play No. 18 Georgia. Both teams are undefeated in conference play and they both won last week in nail-biting fashion. LSU, 4-0 (2-0), held Mississippi State on the final drive and stopped them on four straight plays near the goal line to stay undefeated with their 26-20 win. Georgia, 3-1 (2-0), needed a 37 yard field goal as time expired to beat Arizona State 20-17. In last year's meeting, it was an offensive shootout with Georgia coming out on top with a 52-38 win. In a conference filled with many great teams, this a very important game for both teams as a loss by either could prevent them from going to the SEC championship game.

The Tigers' offense has played well this year. Quarterback Jordan Jefferson has passed for 708 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has a talented group of running backs in Keiland Williams and Charles Scott. They have combined for 363 yards rushing on the year. LSU will need to improve on last week's dismal rushing performance where Mississippi State held them to just 35 yards on the ground. At wide receiver, Terronce Toliver and Brandon LaFell have combined for 496 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns. Defensively last week, a game in which they gave up a season high 26 points, they created four turnovers, but it only resulted in 10 points. Before their game last week, they were giving up only 15 points a game and will now face the strongest offense they have seen all year.

Georgia has been plagued on offense this year with the turnover bug. They have committed 12 turnovers in their first four games. Quarterback Joe Cox has thrown 5 interceptions this year. He has also passed for 980 yards and 9 touchdowns. His favorite receiver is A.J. Green who has 428 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. The Bulldogs struggled last week with running the ball as they were limited to only 92 yards on the ground in 31 carries. They will need to improve on this against LSU to take the pressure off of Cox. In their first three games defensively, Georgia was giving up 34 points a game. They seem to have solved some problems as they only surrendered 17 last week. In their win against Arizona State, they limited the Sun Devils to only 3.4 yards per play and recorded 9 tackles for a loss.

According to Betus sportsbook, Georgia is favored by 3 points at home against LSU. This should prove to be another great SEC game with two very good football programs.
