Tim Lincecum Blows A No Hitter As The Giants Win

Sports Betting News - July 10, 2009 - Written by Steve

pistonsTim Lincecum has been in the headlines quite a bit this year and he is at it again with his amazing performance he posted late Thursday night and into Friday morning. The reigning Cy Young winner was in the headlines earlier this year for a number of days for his scoreless inning streak that he was on. Well this time Tim Lincecum almost pitched a no hitter against the Padres in a great 6 inning no hit performance.

Lincecum had Tony Gwynn with 2 strikes and then let him get a single out to left field. He had 7 strikeouts at the time of the first hit by Gwynn and the Giants had a very comfortable lead of 6-0. But the wheels fell off after that and the game became much more interesting. Right after the no hitter was broken up in the seventh inning, Lincecum allowed 3 more runs including one walked in, allowed 2 more hits, and walked another batter. He also left the bases loaded with two outs for relief pitcher who was Romo, but he managed to get the next batter out and end the destruction. Romo also came back in the 8th inning and managed to keep the Padres from making any dramatic comebacks. The Giants scored three more in the eighth inning and closer Howry kept the Padres scoreless and closed the game out for the easy win for the Giants with a score of 9-3.

Even after blowing his no hitter, Tim Lincecum is having a year that will lead him to his second straight NL Cy Youngif he can keep it up. His era stands at 2.33 after this recent game and if it goes like he plans on it to, it will get lower by the end of the year. Tim gets a little break now because his spot in the rotation will not roll around until after All Star Weekend.
