The Magic Stack Up Once Again This Off season

Sports Betting News - July 22nd, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

The Orlando Magic added another piece to their revamped Eastern Conference champion team earlier this week. All thought the Magic would fall off the playoff map when they lost small forward Hedo Turkoglu to free agency. Not the case for the magic who have made it a point to stay in the championship race. After Turkoglu left to the join the Blazers, the Magic acted fast trading Vince Carter and his multi year deal, making up for Hedo's loss of points production.

They also received Ryan Anderson in that trade with the Nets another tall power forward to come off the bench during the season. Shortly after that trade for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson, the Magic signed free agent Brandon Bass who formerly played with the Dallas Mavericks as a back up. Bass was a good acquisition for the Magic who desperately need a player to play with effort and passion off the bench, and that's Brandon Bass.

The newest Acquisition for the Orlando Magic came this week as the Magic signed free agent Marcus Barnes, the terms of the deal are not yet confirmed but a length of two years seems to be what the contract offers. Barnes is likely to start at small forward for the Magic in 2009, replacing Hedo Turkoglu at that position. Barnes does not replace the production of Turkoglu as he only averaged 10.2 points 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assist last year for the Phoenix Suns. Vince Carter replaces the fire power in the points column that Hedo left behind but, Barnes is the guy assigned to play defense against players such as Lebron James and, Paul Pierce. The Magic might actually be a better team at the start of the 2009 season then they were at the start of last season even with all the player transactions.
