MLB Regular Season Half Way Through

Sports Betting News - July 18, 2009 - Written by Glen

The MLB has seen many a great game this season, and many more are to come. Until early October, the regular season is in full swing with the American League and National League scoring runs, playing games, and enjoying fun in the sun.

The American League is has three top contenders in close standing with one another. Boston is at the top of the charts with their 55 wins. The Yankees are just behind them standing with 52 wins. Incidentally, the Yankees are leading the American League Wild Card, so they are still a top contender when going for the Pennant this year. Los Angeles is not to be discounted, as their 50 wins could easily turn into something greater.

Boston's next opponent is Toronto again, with the latter on a three game losing streak. The Yankees are scheduled to battle Detroit today, in New York, giving the Yanks a solid chance at another W on their record. Later today will also put Los Angeles against Oakland, with Oakland having won their previous match up.

The National League has the Dodgers in the leading position. With 56 wins, they remain a strong contender in their League. Saint Louis and Philadelphia are currently tied at 50 wins, with Philadelphia running on the high of a 7 game winning streak. San Francisco and Colorado are hot on their heels, however, with a count of 49 wins each.

Philadelphia is set to play tonight in sunny Florida, giving them a chance to beat out the Marlins and add to their winning streak. The Dodgers are in Houston, prepping for a game at 10 tonight, with the hope of turning their two game losing streak around. San Francisco should chalk up another win against the Pirates, putting them on par with Philly or Saint Louis, provided either of the latter teams lose. The regular season will continue for a few more months, giving bettors plenty of time to continue to cast their bets and clean up on Parlays.
