Keith Jardine Favored in Bout with Thiago Silva At UFC 102

Sports Betting News - August 29th, 2009 - Written by Scott

Keith Jardine and Thiago Silva is a great undercard bout for UFC 102. The bout will take place Saturday, August 29 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. This light heavyweight fight definitely has all of the potential for fight of the year nominee. Fans can expect plenty of nonstop action from the onset and a stand up battle packed with punches from two of the most dangerous strikers in the division. Both fighters like to stand up and slug it out, but both should be fine if it goes to the mat. Silva and Jardine are both coming off losses so redemption for both will add to the action. According to Bodog, Keith Jardine is favored to win the fight with a payout of -145.

Jardine, who holds a record of 14-6-1, comes into this bout looking to avenge his last fight loss to Quinton Jackson by unanimous decision. Expect the 6'2" 205 pound kickboxing specialist to come out firing. Jardine, who has lost three of his last five bouts, needs to get back on the winning track. He definitely fights with an unorthodox style of kickboxing. If the fight should last until round three, Jardine should then be better prepared. Jardine has gone the distance to a judges decision six times while none of Silva's fight have gone to round three. Keith is the favorite to win the fight.

The 6'1" 205 pound Silva will bring a sense of revenge as well as he tries to come back from his last fight loss to Lyoto Machida by way of knock out. Silva, who has a record of 13-1-0, fights for American Top team (ATT) and is a fantastic striker who sets up his punches with leg kicks. He has earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so he has a respectable ground game also. Silva, who is the underdog in this fight, should look to end this fight as early as possible. It is still unknown whether or not he can take his aggressive style of fighting the distance and last all three rounds. Should he win, the payout for his victory is +115.

All in all, this should be a bout filled with fireworks. Silva is coming into the bout for the first time ever following a loss. How he will react will be interesting to see. On the other hand, Jardine has lost four times in the UFC and after the first three, he has responded with a win. Being the underdog, Silva will need to end this fight quick if he is going to win. Look for him to come out striking from the onset.
