Alleged Gambling Haven Robbed, One Life is Claimed

Gambling News - November 5th, 2009 - Written by Glen

An armed robbery in an apartment in west Detroit left one of the attempted burglars dead and a resident with a shoulder wound. The other robber had fled the scene, and police are currently looking for this suspect.

The resident had allegedly been operating an illegal gambling ring out of his apartment. The resident, 67, who has yet to be named, told law enforcement officials that two ski-mask clad individuals forcibly entered the apartment wielding guns. The resident was shot, while a guest of the resident had allegedly been the one that mortally wounded one of the two invaders.

Though unlawful gambling activities had taken place, and the invader had been killed, the true victims were the residents and patrons of the apartment. Self preservation against armed assailants is legal grounds to defend a home, though questions have been asked about whether or not the shot fired at the now deceased burglar was done by another denizen of the dwelling or by the resident himself.

The man hunt is on, and police are looking for the second perpetrator. The investigation is also set to determine whether or not the whole story had been told, rather than a watered down and convoluted tale concocted by a man attempting to obscure the possibility of an illegal gambling operation in his home.
