Betting on the Emmy Awards Hits Online Sportsbooks

Gambling News - July 27th, 2009 - Written by Glen

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are right around the corner, and as you could guess, the online sportsbooks are beginning to allow players to place bets on what they feel the outcome will be. Every facet of the awards are up for grabs, and plenty of money is to be made should you place the right bets. Until September you will have the option to bet on these lines, so get into the action before it is too late.

The first item on the ballot is the Best Comedy Series. 30 Rock is the current favorite at odds of +175. Behind them is the Office, with Family Guy right in tow. Other options include Weeds, Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, and How I Met Your Mother. All of the options are running at a positive pay out, so any choice you make will give you a larger pay out than that of which you originally made.

Another list of props bets Best Drama Series. Like with Best Comedy, these are all running at positive pay outs. Mad Men is the current favorite, with Dexter at the back of the list. Between them are, in no particular order, Damages, Breaking Bad, House, Big Love, and Lost. It is obvious that Lost will do just what its name suggests, so it is probably a good idea to go with something else.

Variety Music and Variety Comedy also have lines available. Amongst the choices are Saturday Night Live (current favorite), the Colbert Report (a solid choice), the Daily Show with John Stewart (another quality bet), followed by two washed up comedians who have not yet had the good graces of retirement, Bill Maher and David Letterman.

Best Actor is also up for grabs, giving you many choices for your buck. Animal enthusiast Alec Baldwin is the current favorite, tied with Jim Parsons, for their respective roles in 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory. Steve Carell is right behind them at +225 to their +200's. Mr. Monk himself, Tony Shalhoub, is just behind Carell, with Charlie Sheen and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) tailing at the end.

The bottom of the ballot holds other propositional bets, including Original Music and Lyrics, Which TV will win the most Emmy Awards, as well as how many Emmy Awards Justin Timberlake will win. Orignal Music holds Flight of the Conchords in the front, at +150. Which show will win more Emmy Awards stands with 30 Rock as the favorite at -110. The odds hold Timberlake at winning no awards at all, and the odds stand at -120.

It should be known that members of CBS, as well as their families, are unable to bet on these lies. Furthermore, Emmy employees are also unable to make any wagers through these lines. Any who do so will find their bets as No Action.
