Betting Big 12 Player Props To Be Profitable For Football Fans

Sports Betting News - September 2nd, 2009 - Written by Scott

big 12 conferenceThe Big 12 Conference is loaded with offensive talent coming into the 2009 football season and have four teams ranked in the preseason top 25, including Texas at #2 and Oklahoma at #3.  All of the player conference favorites at quarterback and the offensive skill positions should put up incredible numbers in 2009.  In addition, the Big 12 has two of the top Heisman candidates in their conference this season.

With the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner (Sam Bradford) and the runner-up (Colt McCoy) returning for their senior season, these two quarterbacks should post incredible numbers as far as individual passing touchdowns goes.  Bradford passed for amazing 50 touchdowns in 2008.  Despite some key losses at receiver, he should still be expected to throw many touchdowns this year.  McCoy tossed 34 touchdowns last year.  He returns his top playmaker in Jordan Shipley and an experienced offensive line to protect him.  Bodog.com has odds set at -175 for Bradford and +140 for McCoy in who will lead the Big 12 in passing touchdowns.

The Big 12 is never at a loss of talent in their team's running backs.  The top four projected backs in 2009 to have the most rushing yards are sure to have big years.  Oklahoma running backs Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray are both included.  Brown rushed for 1,220 yards last year and Murray had 1,002.  Oklahoma State running back Kendall Hunter is listed as well as he rushed for 1,555 yards in 2009.  Missouri back Derrick Washington rounds out the list.  In 2009, he rushed for 1,036 yards.  Odds makers at Bodog.com have Brown at 5/2, Hunter at 1/1, Murray at 3/2, and Washington at 3/1 as to who will lead the Big 12 in rushing yards in 2009.

Oklahoma is set to have another offensive breakout year at rushing with their two top rushers returning, both topping the 1000 yard mark.  It all could depend on who gets the most touches and if both can stay healthy.  Chris Brown led the Sooners in rushing by 218 yards over DeMarco Murray in 2008.  The odds makers at Bodog.com have the odds set at +120 for Brown and -150 for Murray.

Surprisingly, the top two projected receivers in the Big 12 are not teammates of the top two quarterbacks.  Dezmon Bricoe, wide receiver at Kansas, caught 92 passes for 1,407 yards in 2008.  Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryan had 87 catches for 1,480 yards last season.  Both of their respective quarterbacks like to get them the ball based on their catch totals in 2008, so they should produce greatly in the receiving yards category.  Bodog.com has Briscoe at -125 and Bryan at -105 in who will lead the Big 12 in receiving yards in 2009.
