Sports Betting News - July 31st, 2009 - Written by Bruce

Tiger Woods shot a nine under 63 on Friday to put him right back in contention at the Buick Open. After a disappointing first round 71, Woods was eight shots eight shots back of the leader. Once again Tiger showed why is the best in the world. After a poor putting day, which Tiger called possibly the worst of his career, the world's number one golfer rebounded to play wonderfully on Friday making key putts all day long. Tiger missed the cut in the last tournament he played, the British Open, and his first round 71 put him in danger of missing consecutive cuts for the first time in his PGA career. His remarkable second round put an end to that discussion as Woods has put himself near the top of the leaderboard heading into the weekend.

On Tiger's first shot of the day he torched his drive 342 yards down the fairway setting up what would be a magical start to his round. Starting his round on the par 4 10th hole, Tiger got off to a great start when he birdied the first two holes. Then he used his power to take advantage of the short par 4 12th hole by making an eagle. His insanely hot start was not over yet as he went on to birdie both the 13th and 14th. This amazing start had Tiger at six under par for his first five holes played. After starting well back of the leaders, his great start quickly jumped up right back into contention. Tiger went on to finish his first nine at six under for the day shooting a 30. The tenth hole for Tiger was the par 4 1st, and he continued his amazing round with yet another birdie. A three under par on his second nine holes gave Tiger a 63 for the day putting him at -10 for the tournament.

In his amazing second round Tiger had 8 birdies and an eagle. A bogey on the par 4 18th was the only blemish on his scorecard. He is now in a tie for third place, two shots back of current leader Michael Letzig. After his torrid start there was talks of Tiger possibly breaking 60 today. He came back to earth a bit on his final nine holes which left him a few shots short of breaking 60. Nonetheless Tiger's 2nd round 63 put an end to any thoughts of him missing his second straight cut. Instead he is right near the top of the leaderboad in prime position for possibly another PGA victory. Tiger Woods performance today showed golf fans around the world that he is indeed the best this game has to offer.
