Sports Betting News - July 21st, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

One of the hottest new sites on the Internet, Twitter, has prompted some online sports betting sites to offer bets on the future of the site. Many of these bets are entertaining, and could be easily won. For those not in the know, Twitter is a new social networking site which allows users to post blurbs on everything from what they're doing, interesting news and video from the Internet, and more.

At this time, many celebrities and well known athletes have set up Twitter accounts in which they post their day's happenings. It keep fans enthusiastic, and gives them a further sense of intimacy with that player or actor. For that reason, Twitter has taken off among certain circles, and has led speculators to believe that Twitter will soon be consumed by a bigger Internet company.

Courtesy of BetUS we have odds on which company will buy Twitter. There are some interesting choices, as well as the usual suspects such as Microsoft and Google. Without further delay, here are the odds:

Google    +150
Apple     +175
Microsoft     +250
Facebook     +350
News Corp     +500
Yahoo     +800

As you can see Google is the clear leader with Apple in a close 2nd place. Companies such as Facebook already offer a similar service, but is only amongst online friends, and are not likely to purchase a majority stake in Twitter.

At this time, there are no announced plans for Twitter sell off any of it's stocks, so it is an open game. Betting ends on July 24th, 2009 at 8:00am. In order to win the bet, whichever company purchases it, must have a 50.1% share hold by December 31st, 2010.
