Now that the H.O.R.S.E. championship is underway, the WSOP is kicking off event 38 - another No Limit Texas Hold 'em event. This event is very similar to previous events of its kind, offering players a shot at a bracelet with the now standard form of poker. If you like Texas Hold 'em and you have missed some of the previous events of its kind, we can recommend event 38. The buy-in is low, and this tournament should be one of the more attractive to players who do not have the largest bankroll available.

If you come to the casino at June 22nd, you will find that players can buy-in to the event with $1,500. The game will kick off at 12 PM, providing players with the beginning of the three days of enjoyment and potential winnings, both in cash and glory. They have a bracelet awaiting at the end of the event, which is set for June 24th. Provided you ave the buy-in and the means to be there, this tournament could provide you with an easy hit of cash.

Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)

Day 1 Update - Jonathan Spinks has taken the lead after the first day of the 38th event. Spinks controls 133,600 chips, with Gabriel Alarie behind him with 122,800. This $1,500 buy-in event brought out 2,192 players, with only 320 players remaining. The prize pool has been built up to $2,959,200. Some early bust outs include David WIlliams, Faraz Jaka, Liv Boeree, Matt Affleck, Tom Dwan, Bertrand Grospellier, and Antonio Esfandiari. Dwan had been bouncing back and forth between this hold 'em tournament and the H.O.R.S.E. event, so him busting out has been more because he has been absent rather than him having played poorly. Some major players still in the running include Binh Nguyen, Jonathan Duhamel, Justin Smith, and Melanie Weisner. The second day should bring us into the final stretch, breaking the bubble at 216th place and bringing the field to a small number of players.

Day 2 Update - Out of the 2,192 entrants, only 23 remain going into the third day of the 38th event. This was whittled down from the 298 players that came out to the end of the second day. Going into the third day, Perry Lin Hoboken, NJ, holds a solid 1,000,000 chips - 890,000 more than what she had started with in day 2. Michael Blanovsky holds second place at the end of the second day, and he will return with 757,000 chips. Jonathan Spinks is returning in fourth, with 688,000 chips remaining in his stack. With the final 23 coming back in the third day, this event should not be running down into a fourth day. The blinds will begin at 5000/10000 with an ante of 1,000.

Day 3 Update - Not surprisingly, the ten level rule has forced a fourth day in yet another hold 'em tournament. The third day started with 23 players, a nine person final table was created, and all of the notable players had been eliminated before the end of the day. Hoai Pham, Melanie Weisner, and Jonathan Spinks, who has a big stack, had all been eliminated before the final table. Chip leader Perry Lin ended up losing out in 6th place with a major bad beat on a river. Arkadiy Tsinis and Michael Blanovsky are the final two players remaining, with 7,110,000 chips in Tsinis's stack and 2,765,000 in Blanovsky's stack. The blinds should kick off at 60,000/120,000 with an ante of 15,000, so the pace of the game should be fairly swift.

Day 4 Update - Arkadiy Tsinis has won the 38th event, and he has walked home $540,136 richer for his efforts. Out of a field of 2,192 entrants, Tsinis managed to wade through many professionals, a slew of amateurs, and he had done so with unlimited tenacity. The final table was brought down to Tsinis, Michael Blanovsky, Randolph Lanosga, Pim de Goede, Paul Nash, Perry Lin, David Rounick, Ryan Laplante, and Christopher Homan. The forced fourth day brought Blanovsky and back to battle with Tsinis, and Tsinis had the chip lead going into the fourth day. Heads up lasted just over an hour and a half, and Tsinis was made the chip leader by the end of the day.
