2009 WSOP Event 9 - No Limit Hold 'Em / Six Handed

USA Poker WSOP 2009 WSOP 2009 WSOP Event 9 No Limit Hold 'Em / Six Handed

The 2009 World Series of Poker Event 9 No Limit Hold ‘Em / Six Handed is the 9th event in this year’s edition of the WSOP. The Six handed version of no-limit hold ‘em is nothing but a six-player maximum table rather than a traditional nine player table. The players need to slightly re-align their poker strategy to make up for the difference in number of players and viewers can expect some very aggressive moves from them. Players need to attack the opponent’s blinds and defend their own. Another important aspect of six-handed poker is to ‘hold the button’.  This form of fast-paced and super-quick poker is definitely not for the faint hearted.

The initial buy-in for this year’s Event 9 of the 2009 WSOP No Limit Hold 'Em / Six Handed is $1,500. The tournament structure has been slightly altered this year, with players having to keep ante bets of $25 only from Level 5 instead of Level 4. No Limit Hold ‘em poker is traditionally the most popular variant of the game even at the WSOP with this event attracting more than 1236 players and having an accumulated prize pool of an amount in excess of $1.6 million. This year’s level one low blinds start from $25 with a big blind of $50. This event is also a three day affair with 34 levels of play.

Tournament Updates

Day 1 Recap
Event Nine came to a halt with 105 out of 1,459 entrants remaining. Doug Lee was the leader at the end of the night, but there are many players following closely behind. This is a Six Handed No-Limit Hold'Em tournament, meaning there are only six people per table rather than nine. Day 1 was writhe with excitement, and Day 2 should be running strong when it starts.

Day 2 Recap
Eight of Fourteen Hundred still stand in Event 9. Charles Furey currently holds the lead, with second and third place going to Bryce Yockey and Carman Cavella. These three all have over one million chips, with the remaining five having chip counts ranging from 339,000 to 780,000. Today marks the last day, and the lead can land anywhere.
