Event 36 Tournament Recap From 2009 World Series of Poker
Event 36 Marked another No-Limit Hold'Em tournament, this one with 1,695 entrants. The $3,000 dollar buy-in garnered a $3,084,900 prizepool, with $582,212 going to the winner - Jordan Smith. Smith won his first bracelet after one of the most even match ups the Series has seen. Pat Atchison was the leader going into it, but he was removed in sixth place. Ken Lennaard dueled with Smith, and it was indeed a gruelling evening. Smith's pocket diamonds led to a flush on the flop. He played it cool, checking after the three diamonds dropped, and finally went all-in after Lennaard bet 350,000. Lennaard called with a pair of eights and was quickly eliminated after the turn and river proved useless to Lennaard.
