Tribal Casinos: A Deeper Look

Casino News - July 22nd, 2009 - Written by Glen

Since the late 1980's, Native American casinos have been built on tribal land all over the United States. The Industry has flourished to such a point that some of the best known casinos in the United States are Tribal property. In order to bring a deeper insight to the tribal gaming market on the whole, we've done our home work to bring you the results.

It is said that the Native American gambling epidemic began in South Florida, with the opening of a high-stakes bingo hall. After arrests were made and the Seminole Tribe brought the matter to court, a judge ruled in favor of the Seminoles, granting them their own sovereignty on reservation land. From there it skyrocketed, bringing us famous locations such as the Seminole Hard Rock in Fort Lauderdale, the Mohegan Sun, and Foxwoods.

Indian Casinos have become a great help the their people and the nation itself. Revenues from the casinos are taxed, like with any other casino, but these taxes may only be allocated to specific areas. Most of the tax goes into the programs and welfare for Native Americans, with some of it also going into local governments. Either way you look at it, these casinos are saving the Federal, State, and Local governments from different obligations.

In addition to the financial benefits for the companies, governments, and programs, the private citizen can also benefit from a Tribal Casino. Almost half a million jobs are created annually for citizens around the nation. No matter how you look at it, these casinos are a great addition to the nation, and with more continuously popping up across the nation and different states looking into expanding their gambling options, expect to see even more benefit from these great establishments.
