FBI Begins Probe Into Full Tilt, Visits Players

Poker News - February 22nd, 2010 - Written By Bonnie

full tiltFull Tilt Poker is one of the largest online poker rooms and is not only drawing the attention of thousands of online players, but the FBI as well. Rumors have been circulating on many online poker media sites that Full Tilt Poker is a key interest for investigators and that the FBI has already made attempts to contact some players of Full Tilt. Though this is still a presumption and yet to be proven, it is making some players weary about their deposits. Though players are not able to be targeted under the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, the possibility of lost funds looms menacingly on the horizon.

The interest of the Federal Bureau of Investigations is geared mainly towards the transactions processed through the gambling site, rather than the activity of the players. The UIGEA regulations will come into play as of June of 2010 and are already creating fuss for some of the main online poker sites. Online Poker players who have been a party of interest in this investigation have confirmed that the questions and concerns from law enforcement comes mainly from how the transactions are processed through online gambling sites, such as Full Tilt. Washington was the first of what will probably be many state wide investigations where players of online gambling sites will be contacted and questioned regarding their involvement with online gambling sites.

Online gambling sites have been the topic of many formal government meetings and for years law makers have been trying to find a way to make gambling legal and regulate the operations. Those attempts have been unsuccessful, and it is only in the past year that we have seen headway in the attempt to reverse strict guild lines pertaining to gambling, thanks to Barney Frank and the support of his peers.
