The battle to the top twelve of season 9 of American Idol continues, and after several brilliant performances from the ladies last night, the have certainly given the boys a run for their money as they take the stage tonight. Only a few weeks into the live performances and already we have seen some some drastic changes in the contestants. The top 24 who made it to the live segment of the show were chosen based on their original auditions, as well as what they delivered during Hollywood week. While every performer will go through their high and low performances, keeping a consistent steady routine may earn you another week on the show, but it is the wow moments that will keep them there.

Several of the women showed drastic improvement this week from their last performances, and although the judges rarely all agree on a solid performance, the women brought their A game last night. Some have even been named the best performances of the season. Week after week, the judges critique the singers and hope that the contestants take their suggestions to heart and really show their vocal talent. Sometimes the ideas coming from the judges hit home, other times not so much. Picking the right song and molding it to fit the contestants personality is something that the judges take notice to, and something the contestants end up finding rewarding.

Topping some of the performances from last night will be tough, but the men are ready to take on the challenge as they hit the stage tonight. Having the advantage to sit and watch the performances allows each contestant to focus on what the judges are looking for and hopefully land a performance of their own which will help keep them in the competition.
