Texas Beats LSU to Force Game 3 of College World Series Final

Gambling News - June 24, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

When the Texas Longhorns took the field last night, they knew that they absolutely had to win, to avoid losing the NCAA Baseball National Championship. Game 2 was a must have for the Longhorns, in order to force a game 3, tonight, against the LSU Tigers.

Both teams had been on a collision course coming through the College World Series' brackets, and now they have already played 2 games in the final series. As it stands now, the series is knotted up, at 1 game apiece. In a 3 game series, the first team to get to 2 wins, wins the series, and in effect, the Collegiate Baseball National Championship.

It didn't take long for the Texas Longhorns to crack the scoreboard, as they scored 1 run, in the top of the first and another run, in the top of the second. LSU responded, in the bottom of the second inning, scoring only one run, which at the time, only had them down by one. The game would soon get out of hand, as the Longhorns returned to the plate, in the top of third, and drove 3 runs home. From that point on, it was a defensive struggle, as neither team scored another run, after the first 15 outs of the ballgame. In the end, Texas beat LSU, 5 to 1.

So, it has all come down to this. One game, to take it all; one game, for the National Championship. Both Managers, Gurrido and Manieri, are going to pull out all the stops, in an effort to squeeze every drop out of their ball clubs. Tune in at 7pm EST, on ESPN, to catch all the action. The drama is sure to intense, and emotions will be high as both teams will lay it all on the line, to win the ultimate prize, a NCAA National Title.
