Lakers Destroy Magic, Series Comes to an End

June 15, 2009 - Written by Glen

The Lakers fought a hard battle and obliterated the Magic in the fifth game. The Magic were the favored team, but the Laker's defied the odds and put the Magic down. Game 5 was the Magic's last chance to come back and stay in the Finals. They played a hard battle, but were ultimately outclassed by the Lakers. Orlando's starters all scored in the double digits, but this was not enough. By half-time the Lakers were down, but a burst of bravado pushed themselves and ultimately came back on top. The Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant, finished with 30 points under his belt.

This was the 15th NBA title for the franchise and their first since Shaq left the team. Bryant now owns four rings from the NBA. Phil Jackson also broke a record, and this is his 10th title as coach. This series was a major one, for both the teams and the record books.

Orlando won Game 3 of 5, and this was a triumphant victory. Despite their failure in the series overall, Orlando was not without a strong fight. This was their first Final's trip in 14 years, so this series was not to be discredited at all. This season was a good one for them and their improvements over the year should allow for a stronger performance next season.

Los Angeles has scheduled a parade for the Lakers. While it has not been finalized, the work is in process to push the red tape aside and allow for a celebration of epic proportions. While the Lakers and the Cavaliers were the hoped for match, the battle between the Magic and the Lakers was a grand series no matter what.
