Day 2 of 2009 WSOP Event 1 Comes To An End

wsopAfter nearly 12 hours of game play in day 2 of the Casino Employees No limit Hold 'Em, Event 1 of the 2009 WSOP comes to a end with Andrew Cohen being the first bracelet winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker. Cohen battled 80 other players while still remaining to stay near the top chip count throughout the entire day. Andrew Cohen walks away with a prize of $82,833.

Just as quickly as Event 1 comes to a end, we immediately move into event 2, the 40th Annual No Limit Hold 'Em. Even with a high buy in of $40,000, still 201 players decided to take their chances against one another in the 40th Annual No Limit Hold 'Em. Many of the big names showed up for this event such as Bruno Fitoussi whom at the moment is leading the pac at the start of Day 2 with a chip count of 812,000. 2003's WSOP Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker is not far behind with 805,000 in chips. Day 2 will welcome 89 of the 201 participants back for another day of challenging card playing. Along with Fitoussi and Moneymaker, you will see some of your past favorites such as Michael DeMichele, Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis, Emil "Whitelime" Patel, Brian Townsend and Justin Bonomo. Those not so lucky and who were put out by the end of Day 1 were none other than past bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda and Annie Duke, just to name a few.

Tune in today to see if Bruno Fitoussi has what it takes to hold the lead or if he lets Moneymaker slip through the cracks. More excitement today as we await the announcement of the winner of Event 2 the 40th Annual No Limit Hold 'Em and then move on to Event 3, the Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Tournament which is set to begin on Friday, May 29th.
