Overseas Online Jackpot Teases USA Players

May 12, 2009 - Written by Glen

It turns out that not all gambling sites allow USA players. Over the weekend, a $6.3 million Cdollar jackpot was hit on a slot machine, Mega Moolah. Unfortunately, this immense jackpot was hit on a Microgaming Casino. This is unfortunate because Microgaming casinos do not allow USA gambling.

USA players had to sit back and read about this jackpot from afar. When the UIGEA passed, Microgaming sites decided to block US residents from joining their site. This was the highest payout of any Internet slot ever, and we as Americans did not even have a chance at it.

Fortunately, Representative Barney Frank, a long time civil rights activist, has been working dutifully on altering current legislation. He has been writing a Bill to put forth to congress to overturn the UIGEA. Though the Bill is still in its infancy, it has received a lot of attention from law makers. Frank had put forth a bill similar to this one before, just to be shot down. Times have changed, however, and now that congress is predominantly Democratic, Frank may have an easier time succeeding where he had once failed.

Time will tell if this Bill will pass. With any luck, Representative Frank will push this Bill successfully through the channels and create a greater environment for online gambling to thrive in the United States.
