A Hollywood Movie Based On Online Casino Gambling

Gambling News - June 19, 2009 - Written by Renee

Gambling has always been a favorite subject for Hollywood. Movies like Rounders and Ocean’s Thirteen readily come to mind. Since then online gambling has become a major sector of the gambling industry and it is only natural that Hollywood turns it attention to online gambling.

A lot about the movie is being kept secret. The story line is being closely guarded. No shooting date has been set and therefore no release date. However what is known forebodes well. The film will star Leonardo DiCaprio, who is about the best combination available for an amalgamation of acting talent and celebrity material. The movie is set in Costa Rica, which is one of the leading jurisdictions for licensing online casino operations. Some of the leading online casinos operate from Costa Rica.

The script is being written by Brian Koppleman and David Levien, the team that worked on Rounders. Rounders gave a fair representation of the land based poker world. It showed the good side as well as the underground side of the game. The online gambling community is hoping that the new venture will not represent online gambling in a negative manner. The duo of Brian Koppleman and David Levien also wrote the script for Ocean’s Thirteen, which was set in a Las Vegas casino, though the action centered around a heist and not so much on the gambling part.

The online gambling industry has much to offer by way of dramatics. The tussle with the government is one issue. The super user scandal is another. Huge jackpot wins add to the drama. How much of these feature in the movie only time will tell.
