Antoine Walker Arrested at Las Vegas' Harrah's Casino

Casino News - July 20th, 2009 - Written by Bonnie

It was not a lucky day for NBA star Antoine Walker last Thursday as he was taken into custody on felony charges related to debts owed to three Las Vegas casinos. Walker who was in South Lake Tahoe for the American Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament, made a pit stop at Harrah's which but a quick end to what was probably a quick get away. Walker, who in his 12 years with the NBA made a reported $100 million, passed ten bad checks totaling over $800,000. Walker has three felony charges of writing bad checks for taking out markers at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and Red Rock Resort. Players can obtain funds by taking out credit at the casinos, the only catch is that you must have sufficient funds to cover the line of credit, which Walker seemed to be a little shy of.

This is not Walkers first brush with the law, earlier this year he was arrested in Miami on charges of driving under the influence. Playing for the Timberwolves, Celtics, Mavericks, and Heat earned Walker millions and millions of dollars and yet he still has a outstanding debt with three Las Vegas casinos. District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski has commented that Walker has paid close to a $1 million of the debt but is still left with owing these casinos approximately $822,500. In addition to the money owed to the casinos, Walker is also responsible for the District Attorney's fee's which to date is $82,550.

Walker was arrested at Harrah's Casino in Stateline, NV when a casino employee recognized Walker from a tv report that had been broadcasted with details as of the charges. The employee approached an officer and led him to where Walker had been spotted. Walker was arrested on site and held locally with a bail set at $005,050, which was later reduced to $135,000. Walker is scheduled to appear at the Las Vegas Justice Court today, where his fate will be decided. It would only be appropriate that his arrest would take place in a casino.
