Isuldur1 Takes Phil Ivey For Over $1M

Poker News - November 25th, 2009 - Written by Glen

full tilt pokerLast Saturday, poker fans as Patrik Antonious and the enigmatic Isuldur1 clashed in a pot over $1.3 million dollars during a tournament through one of the most trusted Online Poker Rooms around, Full Tilt Poker Room. Mere days later, Phil Ivey and Isuldur1 went head to head, creating a pot worth $1.1 million dollars.

Play had taken place between Ivey and Isuldur1 through a $500/$1,000 No Limit Hold'em competition. Hundreds of hands took place, leaving Phil Ivey almost $1 million dollars richer. Unfortunately, Ivey's luck began to waver when they switched to the Pot Limit Omaha tables. Ivey stayed on top but one fateful pot would change the pace of the day.

The hand opened with a loose playing Isuldur1, who pushed the aggression until the flop. The flop landed, showing a Jack of spades, a King of spades, and a Jack of diamond. By the time the turn dropped a Ten of diamonds, the pot totaled at $345,000. The river dropped a five of diamonds, which sent raises back and forth until the pot held over $1,000,000 dollars. The showdown came and Isildur1 showed the winning hand - a pocket pair of kings, as well as a four and a five, winning the hand with a set. Ivey decided to muck his hand.

Though Isildur1 took Phil Ivey for $1 million dollars in one pot through Full Tilt Poker, Ivey still managed to leave heads up play with a profit of over $300,000 dollars. Isildur has taken Tom Dwan for over $700,000, and has been torn down by Patrik Antonious on more than one occasion. Isuldur1 has been shaking up the online poker industry, a shake that has been increased by his generally obfuscated persona.
