Smoking Ban Once Again A Topic For Atlantic City Casinos

Public smoking bans are becoming overwhelmingly popular as the health craze continues to sweep much of the nation. In 2008, Atlantic City voted on a smoking ban throughout the casinos, which failed to pass. While a full ban has not been implemented, much of the casino floor still inhibits smoking. Despite the partial ban, a full ban is once again on the ballot.

Atlantic City's casino industry has arguably taken the biggest hit in the recession, and many claim that a full blown smoking ban would further inhibit the growth of Atlantic City, thus plunging the casinos into further debt. Be it because smokers can gamble in online casinos from their home or because players can travel to near by state's casinos, some of the key voters are against the ban.

While debating the issue in 2008, an accidental full blown ban had taken place. During these two weeks casinos had seen a drastic decline in revenue. This is a fear expressed by many of the casino operators in the area, as they simply cannot afford to see yet another drop in income.

When the issue will be voted upon has yet to be determined. It is likely that the vote will be held within the upcoming weeks, though the issue could once again be a waste of time for the ballots. Many player shave expressed their contempt over the possibility of the ban, several of whom have claimed that they would gladly travel to a near by state to continue smoking while they gamble.

This once again goes to show that if you restrict a vice to certain areas, those who enjoy the vice in question would rather go somewhere it is accepted rather than contend with a limitation.

While the Pros and Cons of Online Gambling in the USA have been the topic of discussion among government officials for years, most would have to agree that atleast the smokers who wish to gamble, would not be directly endangering the health of other players by smoking cigarettes in a public area.
