Unusual Case Over Winnings Churned Out By French Casino

Casino News - December 17th, 2009 - Written by Glen

casinoIn an unusual turn of events, two players brought their issue to court after a certain casino slot machine had struck it big. Two friends, both from France, had been collaborating on a slot game, and luck would have it that the spinning reels pumped out a prize of over two million Euros. Trouble did not hit until the friends had decided to start a dispute over who it was that won the money.

Back in March, the two players had brought the issue to a court. The first player, Marie-Hélène Jarguel, deposited 50 euros into a slot game. The casinos "Megapot" jackpot was up for grabs, and Jarguel was aiming to win this prize. With over two million euros on the line, tension was undoubtedly high. Along side Jarguel was a fellow casino denizen, Francis Sune. While Jarguel had been in front of the machine and had deposited the money, Sune was the player who had actually activated the reels.

The trouble arose when Sune had spun the reels, using Jarguel's money, hitting the jackpot. Jarguel had absconded with the check, as the casino's rules state that only one player may take the winnings. Sune found this problematic, and soon demanded a piece of the prize. The issue ended up in court, as resolution was otherwise not possible.

While attorneys argued that Jarguel had made the risk, Sune had put forth the idea that he deserved the money for being the one who had actually "won" the slot. After all was said and done, courts decided that the win was a team effort, citing the term an "association of gamblers."

The prize was split, and Sune has claimed complacency. He will not appeal the decision. Jarguel, on the other hand, may be going back for seconds, and or find himself exploring his options with Online Casinos.
