Pennsylvania Promotes Problem Gambling Awareness Week

The threat of increased pathological gambling has caused many interest groups to protest gambling, though the Pennsylvania gambling authorities have been making it a point to help prevent as much gambling addiction as possible.

March 7th to March 13th is National Problem gambling Awareness Week. Several state agencies have joined together to highlight this week, and reinforce the fact that Pennsylvanian's have options when searching for treatment.

The state's Health, Revenue, and Agriculture departments, as well as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, have teamed up to show player's that treatment and counseling services are available.

"Most people are able to gamble without harmful consequences," said Health Secretary Everette James. "But for anyone who develops a problem, it is important for them to be aware of the resources that can help them to overcome it."

With 57 approved problem gambling treatment providers in Pennsylvania, these counseling and treatment options are available at all times. The Gambling Addiction hotline is also available 24 hours a day.

Though the prevalence of pathological gambling is outrageously low, there are still those who suffer - which is why Pennsylvania has decided to promote services available for those with gambling habits.
