Kentucky Fails to Pass Gambling Bill

pokerKentucky's senate has shot down a bill that would alter gambling laws in the state. The alterations would force a required public vote in order to approve any future changes in Kentucky's gambling laws and choices.

The limiting bill had been shot down before even reaching the House, where gambling expansion is generally hoped for. The Senate had blocked an earlier attempt at expanded gambling in Kentucky, despite having been approved by the House.

Proponents to gambling in Kentucky favor the idea of slot machines in the state's racetracks. These slots are thought to rescue the ailing horse racing industry in Kentucky. Ironically, slot gaming has been declining in many locations around the Untied States in recent times.

Until more support can be found in the state legislature, expanded gambling will fail too move forward. The Senate had voted on the recent issue 21-16. While more were in favor of passing this law, more than three-fifths would have had to give the go ahead in order to make progress.

Though the bill that would force a vote amongst he public prior to any changes in gambling laws, the actual expansion of gambling may still be a reality. As long as the interest remains, Kentucky may soon see slot games outside of Kentucky online gambling.
