Illegal Gambling Operations Busted in Ohio, Crackdowns Begin

Gambling News - January 30th, 2010 - Written By Glen

gamblingResidents of Ohio seem to have grown impatient over the long process involved in introducing and establishing the casinos. In this past week, Ohioan authorities had enacted a raid that dropped the hammer on the illegal gambling machines within fourteen bars in the Middletown area.

While fourteen bars had been raided, only thirteen were cited with illegal gambling operations, having gambling machines more specifically. The fourteenth had received a citation, but their citation was one that would arguably help the general public more than an illegal gambling bust. The last establishment was cited for unsanitary conditions.

According to reports, police had absconded with over $1.2 million dollars - from one bar. A total of $30,000 was confiscated from the remaining establishments. This is still just the beginning of a further investigation.

Criminal charges may be pursued if evidence is submitted City Prosecutor.

Ohio had only legalized casinos within the state back in November, and plans to have the casinos established by 2012. Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo are the tentative locations for the casinos within the state, though locations may be changed due to inclination of locals in the proposed area. For now, the only form of gambling safe from raids comes in the form of Ohio online gambling.
