Florida Couple Charged With Neglect After Leaving Daughter for Casino

Casino News - January 2nd, 2010 - Written By Glen

gavelThe Seminole Hard Rock Casino attracts many tourists, some good some bad. A couple from Port Richey, Florida, had turned out to possibly be amongst the bad, as they had allegedly left their young daughter alone while visiting the casino.

According to an arrest report, the distraught young girl, an eight year old child, had been left unattended at the La Quinta in which they were staying. The girl had been left alone for nearly eight hours. She had reportedly walked to the hotel's lobby after waking up and realizing that her parents were still gone. The girl was sobbing, as an arrest report states, while the deputies of the Hillsborough Sheriff's department had controlled the situation.

Nancy, 41 and Donovan Jewell, 42, had been booked, and held with a $2,000 dollar bail. Both were charged with child abuse by neglect.

In 2009, many arrests had been made over child neglect due to casino gambling parents. One woman had left her infant child in a car while she had gone into the casino, while a man had done something similar. With Florida online casinos, players can enjoy all of the best casino games without having to leave their home. Due to this advantage, unscrupulous parents may avoid leaving their children unattended and possibly in harm's way.
