Online Casino Refuses To Protect Self Excluded Addicted Gambling

Casino News - February 12th, 2010 - Written By Glen

online gamblingOne thing that is found in every online casino is an urge toward responsible gaming. Online casinos, like land based casinos, realize that pathological gambling is an affliction that troubles a small percentage of the population. Because of this trouble, online casinos allow players to impose limitations - or entire exclusions - from their gaming centers. Unfortunately, not all casinos will listen to the pathological gambler's outcry when they find a moment of lucidity and decide to impose their own ban from the gaming center.

Casino33, what was once considered a high quality gaming center, has recently come under fire for their practices pertaining to pathological gambling. One player, who wishes to remain anonymous, has recently come to us with his story.

"I have a problem, and I admit it. I have a compulsive gambling habit, and I asked for help," began our informant. "I threw several hundred dollars into this casino and after I lost it all, I requested a self exclusion ban from the gaming center. All was well and good, but it didn't last long."

According to our anonymous interviewee, Casino33 had continued to contact him despite his self imposed ban. For several months after he asked them to close his account under the pretext that he had a gambling addiction, Casino33 had continued to contact him, both by telephone and by e-mail. Most online casinos who, after realizing their player has a problem, will remove the gambler from their mailing and calling lists.

Sadly, this was not the case with Casino33.

"Avoiding an addiction when you have someone pushing it on you regularly is nearly impossible. The increased stress from seeing those random numbers calling my phone was too much. I don't need the problem, I don't need to waste anymore cash on this," continued our liaison.

Some more reputable casinos have fully functional responsible gaming programs in place. For instance, Sloto Cash Casino, a Rival Casino, gives players a multitude of options for avoiding compulsive gambling. Monthly deposit limits as well as exclusion are options through their casino. Other RTG Online Casinos, including Cherry Red Casino, also offer very strict programs to prevent irresponsible gambling.

Even land based casinos have self exclusion lists, prompting the question over why Casino33 would refuse to assist a player who had asked them for help.

"I told them to stop calling. I told them to stop e-mailing. Even though I had informed them of my gambling problem, they refused to listen. Over ten calls I received since November [sic]. I just want it to end. I've remained strong this far, but there is no telling what could happen," finished our anonymous informant
