Kansas Casino to Begin Construction

Casino News - February 14th, 2010 - Written By Glen

casinoIn the state of Kansas, new casinos must undergo rigorous background checks for licensing. The most recent license has been approved, and the proprietors of the Wyandotte County Casino can now begin construction.

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has signed off on the $368 million dollar Hollywood Casino, located around the Kansas Speedway, despite fears by some that the casino would be seriously delayed.

Penn National Gaming, one of the leading stars in the casino industry, has been granted the license to establish this casino. Tax revenue will go both to state and local economies, as well as aid the tourism industry in the area.

"The casino is just a starting point of all the good things to come as we fulfill our commitment to seek a second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race," said Lesa Kennedy, CEO of one of the International Speedway Corporation's developers.

A 100,000 square foot casino will be established, toting both slots and table games. Restaurants and a lounge will also be included. This, however, is only the first half of the construction. A hotel and shopping center will be established later.

Jobs and tax revenue are both expected to be high through the project. Almost 2,000 construction jobs are to be created, as well as over 1,000 permanent jobs. This is just another example of how casinos, not withstanding Kansas online casinos, help economies despite the imaginary problems they are rumored to cause.
