Crime Against Casinos Do Not Pay

Casino News - February 20th, 2010 - Written By Glen

gavelCasino robberies have made plenty of work for reporters, but rarely have the stories ended poorly. Most of the robbers are apprehended within a short time of the criminal activity, and rarely is there an injury. In December of 2009, the Seminole Coconut creek Casino in Florida had been robbed, but this tale ended very poorly.

The suspect, Dominic Zibuda, had, until recent times, avoided capture. Police were later tipped off about his location, and had descended on his location.

In Oakland Park, Florida, a Broward Sheriff SWAT force had approached the duplex in which Zibuda was suspected to be hiding. Little did they know that they would be forced to endure a grueling five hour standoff.

The SWAT Team created a perimeter around the house, where Zibuda, two other men and a woman were residing. The men, other than Zibuda, and the woman had left the home. They were subsequently put through an inquisition and released from custody.

Zibuda refused to leave the domicile and brandished a firearm. Several shots were fired out of a front window. No sheriffs or civilians were injured in the affray, but police had, for safety reasons, informed citizens to stay in their homes as the street was closed off.

Around 9:30 pm, the SWAT Team had entered the building. Unfortunately, the final shot Zibuda had fired was a shot of suicide. After the raid, Zibuda was identified as the burglar by the cameras in the casino.

Though most casino robberies are rarely as tragic, this is one of the main reasons opponents to casino expansion cry out. Thankfully for Florida residents, they may enjoy Florida Online Casinos without any threat of having to live through a casino robbery.
