Casino May Hold $10,000 Win From Player

Casino News - February 14th, 2010 - Written By Glen

casinoCasinos around the United States typically help pathological gamblers with their problem. This is usually done by self exclusion lists and imposed bans.

One banned player had entered the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, and started to play slot games. This player had a lucky run, winning almost $10,000 dollars before trying to claim his winnings. Unfortunately Troy Blackford, the (un)lucky winner, his prize may be confiscated.

A total of $9,387 had been won, but when he went to redeem his tickets for the money, Prairie Meadows officials told Blackford that, under the pretext of his ban, he would be denied his winnings.

Blackford had attempted to utilize the courts in order to receive his winnings. His first stop was the Polk County circuit of courts. The judge had rejected Blackford's claim of entitlement, but the Iowa Court of Appeals had overturned this judgement. The Appeals Court ruled that state legislation did not give the casino the authority to confiscate winnings. However, Justice David Baker stated on Friday that Blackford's ban from the gaming center allowed Prairie Meadows Racino gave the casino the right to refuse the payment.

Blackford's ban, however, was not due to problem gambling or self exclusion. Rather, Blackford was ejected from the casino after growing truculent toward casino security after striking a slot machine out of rage.

The most trusted online casinos never have problems such as these, as the rules of the casino are all clear cut and nearly impossible to violate.
