World Series of Poker Europe Main Event Under Way

September 23rd, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

Day 1A of the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event is underway. Though not as popular or as large as the American WSOP, it has still attracted a fair sized crowd of some of the biggest names in poker, as well as some of the smaller names.

Day 1A is underway, and players are already busting out. Many of the professional players are still participating. Erik Seidel, Kevin MacPhee, Chris Ferguson, Peter Gould, Vitaly Lunkin, Andy Bloch, Annette Obrestad, Huck Seed, Joe Serock, Hoyt Corkins, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Faraz “the toilet” Jaka, Allen Cunningham, and Jason Mercier are amongst those who have already sat down and begun to flex their poker muscles.

Requiring a buy-in of 10,350 GBP, this tournament is slightly more expensive to Americans than the US version. After conversions, the buy-in for the tournament amounted to $16,229. This buy-in would afford 30,000 tournament units to battle against the other entrants.

Day 1A will go through six levels. Moving into Day 1B will further thin the field. The event is expected to have five days of play. The World Series of Poker officials will be broadcasting the event live on the Internet.

Many participants had gained access through USA online gambling sites offering poker. Satellites to major tournaments are available through the USA poker rooms.

Poker fans are still anticipating the culmination of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker.
