2010 NFL Week 2 Previews: Jason Campbell And Oakland A Four-Point Favorite over Sam Bradford And St.Louis
September 14th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

Two quarterbacks debuted  last week for the teams in this week’s match up between the Oakland Raiders and the St. Louis Rams.  The Sam Bradford era in St. Louis got underway, while on the west coast Jason Campbell donned the silver and black in Oakland.

Both however, endured their first losses on the year, though Bradford came close to leading the Rams to a victory.  For Campbell, it was a blowout loss to Tennessee.

Looking ahead at this match up, the Raiders host the Rams in an inter-conference showdown of teams looking to get on track in this 2010 NFL Season.

For the Rams on offense, they lost a close one to Arizona 17-13, after controlling the lead late into the fourth quarter,  Bradford was effective in his first regular season game of his career, finishing 32 of 55 passing for 232 yards and a touchdown.  however, the rookie did toss three interceptions.  That, however, is to be expected from a young quarterback coming into the league. In spite of the three interceptions, Bradford still had his team in the game late, with the potential to win, and that counts for something.

The Rams will continue to rely on running back Steven Jackson as the go-to guy, while also developing Bradford.  For the team to be effective now though, Jackson will have to be productive for the Rams to have a chance at winning football games.

Defensively for the Raiders, it comes down to stopping Jackson and putting the ball in the rookies hands, and hoping he makes mistakes.

Campbell went 22 of 37 for 180 yards against Tennessee, for one touchdown and an interception.  Running back Darren McFadden came close to the 100-yard mark, tabbing 95 yards on 18 carries.  The Raiders were unable to get anything going on offense though, and managed just 13 points.

The Rams defense played well against Arizona, coming up with a big turnover late in the game to give the offense a chance to win it.  Against Oakland, it will be similar to Arizona, as McFadden will be important to stop. Campbell however has weapon in Heyward-Bay at receiver and can go over top the Rams secondary.

USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Weekly Betting Lines have set the Raiders as a four-point favorite at home this week, with the over/under established at 37 1/2 points.
