NFL Week 1 Monday Night Football Player Prop Bets: Baltimore Ravens Vs. New York Jets
September 13th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

There will be no shortage of talent or big personalities on the field Monday night in East Rutherford New Jersey, when the Baltimore Ravens visit the New York Jets for the opening Monday Night Football week.  Both teams have multiple players with ability to change a game on offense and defense, so it will come down to which player can make the plays to do so.

USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Betting Lines have installed a number of prop bets for this game relating to several of the players taking the field tonight on offense and defense.

Beginning with Baltimore running back Ray Rice, the Ravens are expecting big things from him this year.  He is a cornerstone to their offensive game plan, and is an explosive player who is capable of breaking away on any play.  As such, oddsmakers have formulated several prop bets relating to Rice this week, and the type of game that he will have.

Ray Rice 1st Attempt

Over  3½  Rushing Yards -125
Under  3½  Rushing Yards -105

Ray Rice Total Rushing Yards

Over  80½  Rushing Yards Ev
Under  80½  Rushing Yards -130

Continuing with the Ravens offense, they acquired wide receiver Anquan Boldin from the Cardinals over the off season, and bring him in as a top weapon for quarterback Joe Flacco. Boldin was play-maker for Arizona during his career and the organization is hoping that he can continue that during his career in Baltimore.

Anquan Boldin Total Receiving Yards-

Over  44 1/2 Receiving Yards    -130

Under 44 1/2 Receiving Yards   Even

Opposite Boldin will be receiver Derrick Mason.  Mason is a veteran wide receiver in the NFL who has been reliable for Baltimore and a solid outlet for Flacco.

Derrick Mason 1st Reception-

Over  10½  Receiving Yards -105
Under  10½  Receiving Yards -125

Flacco is entering his third season in the NFL, and has been a rarity when considering the rookie success rate coming directly out of college and starting in the NFL.  After leading the Ravens to a victory over New England last season in the playoffs, there has been hype around Flacco, and the 2010 NFL Season will be his chance to deliver.

Joe Flacco Total Completions-

Over  19½  Completions -115
Under  19½  Completions -115

Willis McGahee can hardly be considered a typical back-up running back.  Between he and Rice, they form one of the better running back tandems in the NFL, and a threat that opposing defenses must account for.

Willis McGahee 1st Attempt-

Over  3½  Rushing Yards -115
Under  3½  Rushing Yards -115

Ray Lewis is the captain and leader of the Raven defense, as the veteran enters the 2010 NFL Season eager to stop the Jets from scoring.  As such, oddsmakers have established betting lines for the number of total tackles for him in the game.

Ray Lewis Total Tackles-

Over  6½  Solo+Assisted -135
Under  6½  Solo+Assisted +105

On the opposite sidelines, the Jets will be looking to get their season off on the right foot following an AFC Championship game run last season.  After a highly publicized off season complete with notable acquisitions, the Jets now take the field.  There will be no brighter light shown then on quarterback Mark Sanchez, as he will be under the pressure to deliver.

Mark Sanchez First Pass Will Be-

Complete     -150
Incomplete     +120

What Will Mark Sanchez Throw First

TD Pass     -120
Interception    -110

The Jets also have two running backs at opposite ends of their careers.  One, Shonn Greene is entering what looks to be a promising NFL career, while LaDainian Tomlinson comes to New York after a career spent in San Diego.

Shonn Greene 1st Attempt

Over  3½  Rushing Yards -120
Under  3½  Rushing Yards -110

LaDainian Tomlinson 1st Attempt

Over  3½  Rushing Yards -105
Under  3½  Rushing Yards -125

With Santonio Holmes out for the first four games of the season, wide receiver Braylon Edwards will likely be the focal point for the Jets passing game.  Edwards was solid in the preseason, and will have to help out Sanchez in this one against the Ravens defense.
