Pennsylvania Gambling Revenue Continues To Increase Through August

September 12th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has released its figures for the month of August. As many would have expected, the revenue generated has shown figures that are still on the rise.

In August, the Gaming Control Board had collected a $196,635,849 from slot machines, which generated $102,789,443 in tax revenue according to the 55 percent tax rate.

This represents a rise in revenue of over 5 percent compared to August of 2009. The eight casinos that had been operating in August of last year had generated an increase of 2.6 percent.

Amongst each of the casinos, Parx had the largest of the increases. A 12.22 percent increase had taken place through Parx Casino in Philadelphia. Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem had also reported a solid increase of 10.99 percent.

The Meadows Racetrack And Casino had suffered the largest hit. Running from $25 million in August of 2009, the casino had dropped to $22 million in 2010. This was an 11 percent drop over the year.

Table games had assisted in bringing in extra money to the casinos. While the August table game figures are not out, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is expected to bring in large revenue gains.

While Pennsylvania is enjoying the increasing revenue, Atlantic City’s casinos are not performing well. The USA online gambling choices have also suffered slightly from Pennsylvania’s increasing revenues. Only the ?USA online sportsbooks have not suffered from Pennsylvania’s thriving gambling industry.
