Macau Growth Continues, Gambling Revenues Booming

September 2nd, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

With thirty-four casinos in the province, Macau has become the world’s largest collection of gambling centers. Rather than diluting the market, the large number of casinos has proven beneficial. The gambling hub has experienced soaring revenue over the last year, and August has once again proven to be a booming month.

According to reports, Macau’s collective casinos have experienced a revenue rise equal to 40 percent. The rise brought revenue to 15.8 billion patacas, or $2 billion dollars. On a year by year basis, this revenue increase rose up to almost 64 percent over the previous year.

The only pause that Macau’s growth had experienced was during the World Cup, where gambling had turned to the world of sports. World Cup betting had taken place primarily through online sportsbooks, and through many illegal gambling ventures in main land China.

Las Vegas, what was the world’s largest gambling hub, has been faltering over the past year. Nevada on a whole has experienced a steady decrease in gambling revenue. Atlantic City, however, has taken it harder. The Atlantic City gambling revenue has been on a free fall decline.

Online gambling has been a consistent success, and revenue is regularly on the higher end of the scale. Encompassing casinos, sportsbooks, and online poker rooms, the USA online gambling sites encompass the best forms of gambling from around the world.
