Cincinnati Bengals Giving Four Points To Indianapolis Colts In Final Preseason Match Up

September 1st, 2010-  By Alex Groberman

The Indianapolis Colts will look to stop the bleeding and avoid their first winless preseason since 2005 when they meet the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

While some have begun to panic over the Colts’ poor play this preseason, it is important to note that over the past five years the team has accumulated a 4-21 record in such games. Still, despite their carelessness when it comes to the offseason, last week’s 59-24 blowout courtesy of the Green Bay Packers raised some eyebrows.  At this point, the only other team without a single win is the Kansas City Chiefs. Nevertheless, Peyton Manning, despite two interceptions, has looked strong in the starting role completing 31-of-51 passes en route to 396 yards and three touchdowns over the past three games. Backup QBs Curtis Painter and Tom Brandstater will likely get most of the playing time in the next game.

By the same token, expect the Bengals to be very cautious in the team’s last preseason outing. The story of the tune-up games thus far has been injuries with receiver Antonio Bryant, linebacker Rashad Jeanty and safety Gebril Wilson. In turn, Bryant and Jeanty were released from the team earlier this week. Look to see a lot of J.T. O’Sullivan and Jordan Palmer sightings as Carson Palmer rests up. So far in the preseason, O’Sullivan and Palmer have combined for five interceptions and one touchdown pass.

USA Online Sportsbooks have set the Bengals as a four-point favorite to defeat the Colts.  The over/under has been installed are 44/12 points.
