Social Networking Hits The Big Screen & Online Sportsbooks

September 1st, 2010 – Written By Bonnie

One of the biggest social networks ever created, Facebook, is about to make it to the big screen and fans can hardly wait to hear the story. While it is said that the actual creators of Facebook were not involved in the making of the film, The Social Network, it is similar to real life events of Facebook coming to be. Facebook was actually created by four Harvard students by the names of Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Facebook first launched in February of 2004 and was an instant success. What was meant to be a social network for Harvard students, swept across the nation like a wild fire. It was lasted reported that, as of July of 2010, Facebook has more than 500 million active members.

Facebook is not used only as a social network where users can connect with friends, it is also one of the most utilized online networks for advertising. Because of the amount of people that Facebook reaches on a day to day basis, many businesses have found that the best way to advertise is through the biggest social network, Facebook.

It was just a matter of time before someone filmed a movie based on the success of the social network Facebook. The film was directed by David Fincher and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and Joseph Mazzello as the creators of the social network Facebook. The story is based on the real life journey of making millions of friends online, and at a very high cost. The dream of becoming someone turns out to be a bigger price to pay than these four college students ever imagined, but in the end was all worth it.

The film is set to be released in October of 2010 and there is no doubt that this film will break records at the box office opening weekend.  Facebook users are curious to see one storyline of how this multi-billion dollar company came to be. Online sportsbooks are offering entertainment betting odds on just how well the film will do with ticket sales opening weekend and chances are, the name alone will lead Facebookers to the big screen to see one person’s interpretation of four college students making it big through a social network.
